Job Competency

OSHA Programs:  Keys to good health and safety performance include understanding the risks and hazards of the job, following the appropriate procedures, having the correct tools and using them properly. Proper training for workers is the first step in achieving the health and safety performance we expect. That belief is illustrated by Devon’s strong safety record, which is consistently better than the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s injury rates for the industry. Knowledge is a key component to improved health and safety performance, which is why Devon provides financial and technical support to many industry training initiatives. The company has provided introductory training on the oil and gas industry to Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors, and it has funded community college safety training initiatives. Devon also has contributed technical resources that have help OSHA develop its eTools project on safety hazards and solutions in the oil and gas industry.
